After many years of enjoying walking breaks with the club. I decided that my turn had come to organise a walk weekend. There was just one obstacle to my good intention a complete inability to lead a walk as I have no sense of direction!
Luckily my sister came to the rescue and agreed to lead the longer walks including a walk with her walk club the Nomads. Many thanks to my sister Janet and the Nomads for all their hard work in leading the walks for so successfully.
It was a lovely, sunny autumn day for this undulating walk following parts of different paths: the Woldingham Countryside Walk, the North Downs Way, the Vanguard Way and the Greenwich Meridian Trail. There were 12 Polyramblers on the train but two forgot to get off at Woldingham station. Only three polyramblers boarded the Windsor train so I was hoping a few members would join en route or come on First Great Western. At Windsor four more members joined us, so not a bad turn out as there was a longer walk scheduled for Sunday. The weather forecast was for heavy rain all day but this did not stop 6 Polyramblers and 3 of John’s friends from another group to come on this walk in the Stort Valley. Children were having fun in canoes when we reached the Stort Nagivation Canal which we started to follow alongside meadows.
